Leveling up has multiple benefits: it restores their health and mana instantly, grants them ability points to improve their combat power, and at certain levels you will also gain rune shards which can be used to give them additional stats. As your Champions progress through the story and win combat encounters, they gain experience, which allows them to level up. Each Champion has different stats and abilities.
